Egypt’s House of Representatives has given final approval to amendments to the Mineral Wealth Law, granting the Egyptian Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority the status of a public economic authority with greater financial and operational autonomy.
The amendments modify Law No. 198 of 2014 and aim to modernise the sector in line with global developments.
The new designation will allow the authority to manage its revenues independently and fund its activities through its own resources, giving it greater flexibility in making financial and technical decisions.
Lawmakers say the changes will help maximise the country’s mineral wealth and support a more competitive and dynamic mining industry.
