Uganda hikes 2025/26 budget by 25%

Uganda has increased its proposed 2025/26 budget by 25 per cent to 71.9 trillion shillings ($19.6 billion), up from the 57.4 trillion projected in September, according to the finance ministry.

Spending priorities are expected to focus on agro-industrialisation, tourism, and mineral development, including petroleum. Parliament is reviewing the proposal, with final allocations to be announced in June. The planned budget is slightly below the current fiscal year’s 72.1 trillion shillings.
