Egypt’s Sisi, Senegal’s Faye discuss Sahel, Sudan, Gaza developments

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye discussed the latest developments in the Sahel region and Sudan, stressing the importance of safeguarding the unity and stability of African states and the security of their peoples. President Faye also listened to Sisi’s view on the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and Egypt’s efforts to restore stability in the Middle East.

During a phone call on Wednesday, the two leaders affirmed their commitment to bolstering the momentum in bilateral relations, especially in economic, trade and investment areas. They emphasised that such cooperation aligns with the strong ties between the two peoples and supports African continental integration.

They also addressed regional issues, highlighting their keenness to consult and coordinate positions on matters related to peace and security across the African continent, particularly in countering terrorism and extremist ideology, and enhancing stability in the Sahel region.
