Egypt allocates EGP 93.5b for Giza development in FY 2024/25

Egypt has earmarked 93.5 billion Egyptian pounds in public investments for Giza Governorate in the 2024/25 fiscal year to finance 550 development projects across sectors including transport, housing, and education, the ministry of planning said on Thursday.

The investment plan is part of the government’s Citizen Investment Plan initiative, aimed at promoting transparency and raising public awareness of sustainable development goals under Egypt’s Vision 2030 strategy.

Transport will receive the largest share of funding, with 49.4 billion pounds allocated (53 per cent of total investments), followed by housing at 30 billion pounds (32 per cent), the ministry said in a statement. Local development projects will receive 3.9 billion pounds (4.1 per cent), while higher and pre-university education will get 3.2 billion pounds and 1.4 billion pounds respectively. Health will get 936 million pounds.

Giza is also a key beneficiary of the national rural development programme Hayah Karima (Decent Life), with 42 villages targeted in the first phase, reaching over 800,000 residents. Planned projects under the initiative include new schools, health units, social centres, water treatment plants, and telecom infrastructure.

“These investment plans strengthen trust between the government and citizens by enhancing transparency and enabling public oversight of development efforts,” Planning Minister Rania Al-Mashat said.

The ministry said it will make the full investment plans available online and through its mobile app “Sharek 2030.”
