Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Sherif El Sherbiny held a meeting with heads of the development authorities of 6th of October and Sheikh Zayed cities to follow up on key projects, including upgrades to main roads, housing initiatives, the development of greenbelt lands, and water and wastewater infrastructure.
The meeting, attended by officials from the ministry and the New Urban Communities Authority, focused on improving the visual identity of West Greater Cairo’s road network.
El Sherbiny stressed the urgency of enhancing visual identity, expediting desert land development, and coordinating with relevant authorities on signage, lighting maintenance, and landscaping, especially around industrial zones and bridges.
He also instructed officials to survey vacant plots along major roads, review the status of previously allocated lands and their compliance with zoning requirements, and resolve obstacles hindering development to accelerate investor offerings.
Additionally, the minister called for the prompt removal of debris along roadways, intensified inspection campaigns, and solutions to prevent the circulation of unlicensed vehicles on key routes.
