Egypt’s GAFI secures ISO 21001 certification for training quality

Egypt’s General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) has received ISO 21001 certification for the quality of its training services, a move aimed at enhancing support for investors and strengthening training standards, the authority said on Tuesday.

The certification, issued by the International Organisation for Standardisation, recognises institutions that deliver high-quality educational and training services aligned with sustainable development goals and learner expectations.

Following the certification handover, GAFI signed a cooperation protocol with the National Council for Training and Education to upgrade the skills of its staff and stakeholders, including investors and their representatives, as part of broader efforts to improve Egypt’s investment climate.

GAFI Chairman Hossam Heiba said the partnership would also focus on training investors in environmental compliance, including strategies to reduce carbon emissions and align with national and global sustainability targets.

“Sustainability must go hand in hand with economic development,” Heiba said in a statement, calling for greater integration of green practices across investment activities.

The certification and cooperation agreement mark a new step in GAFI’s strategy to modernise investor services and promote Egypt as a competitive, forward-looking investment destination.
