European shares rebound, energy lead gains

European stock markets rose on Monday, buoyed by gains in energy, travel and leisure shares, as investors shrugged off recent geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and looked to corporate updates.

The pan-European STOXX 600 edged up 0.48 per cent by 8:33 GMT, recovering some ground after last week’s losses. France’s CAC 40 gained 0.67 per cent, Spain’s IBEX 35 added 0.96 per cent, Germany’s DAX went 0.45 per cent higher, and the UK’s FTSE 100 rose 0.33 per cent.
