Egypt’s PM orders roadmap govt. divestment plan

Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly on Monday held a meeting to follow up on the progress of the government divestment plan from the petroleum sector, as per a Cabinet statement.

Madbouly emphasised the importance of maintaining continuous oversight of the IPO programme in line with the State Ownership Policy Document. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enabling the private sector to drive development, particularly in strategic and high-growth sectors.

Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Hassan El-Khatib proposed formulating a unified IPO strategy to ensure optimal utilisation of state assets and to promote effective partnerships with private investors.

Meanwhile, Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi outlined investment opportunities available to private entities in the petroleum and mineral resources sectors, stressing the ministry’s commitment to boosting investment through private sector engagement.

Moreover, Public Business Sector Minister Mohamed Shimi reviewed opportunities in state-owned companies operating in sectors such as mining and tourism.

The roadmap is expected to be presented to the Cabinet in the coming period.
