Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib met with Japan’s Ambassador to Cairo IWAI Fumio to boost bilateral economic ties and monitor investment projects in key sectors, as per a statement from the ministry on Tuesday.
El-Khatib highlighted the positive trend in Egyptian-Japanese economic ties, with an increasing number of Japanese companies investing in Egypt, reflecting confidence in the country’s business environment.
He reiterated Egypt’s commitment to creating an attractive investment environment and resolving any challenges facing Japanese companies in the local market, the statement said.
The two sides reviewed existing Japanese investments in Egypt, particularly in renewable energy, automotive manufacturing and components, pharmaceuticals, food industries, and electronics, the announcement added.
El-Khatib emphasised the need for ongoing dialogue with Japanese businesses and increased engagement with major industrial and tech companies in Japan to attract more investment. He also pointed out Expo Osaka 2025 as a key opportunity to showcase Egypt’s investment climate and forge new business partnerships.
Ambassador Iwai praised Egypt’s efforts to improve the investment environment and expressed Japan’s interest in expanding cooperation in areas such as green technology, healthcare, and manufacturing to support shared development goals.
