South Valley Egyptian Petroleum Holding Company (Ganope) has signed an agreement with Ardiseis Egypt Branch to conduct a regional two-dimensional seismic survey in the southern part of Egypt’s Western Desert.
The survey, that will adopt land nodes, shall cover an area of up to 103,000 square kilometres, focusing on the West Assiut and Dakhla sedimentary basins. The total length of survey lines is expected to reach approximately 5,233 kilometres, with field operations set to begin in the coming weeks.
Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi described the project as a significant step towards unlocking the potential of promising geological basins in Upper Egypt. He also noted that the initiative strengthens technical and investment cooperation between the Egyptian and Saudi petroleum sectors, aligning with Egypt’s broader strategy for regional integration.
