Egypt’s Minister of Local Development Manal Awad met with North Sinai Governor Khaled Megahed to follow up on development efforts in the governorate and review critical service and infrastructure projects, the Cabinet said on Monday.
The meeting reviewed progress on current and future projects in the 2025/2026 investment plan, including road quality, electricity, public lighting, environmental upgrades, local unit support, and water projects in coordination with authorities.
Awad also followed up on the third and final phase of combating encroachments on state-owned land and agricultural areas in North Sinai, which began on July 5 and runs through July 25, according to the statement.
She stressed the need for firm action, daily monitoring from operation rooms, and full engagement of local units and field follow-up committees to ensure successful execution, according to the statement.
The two officials also reviewed progress on job creation initiatives and SME support—especially for youth and women in Sinai—through private sector engagement and collaboration with the MSMEDA.
Awad reaffirmed the state’s strong commitment to comprehensive and sustainable development in North Sinai, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, describing the governorate as a vital component of Egypt’s national security.
