Centrica, ECP to buy grain LNG terminal for $2b

British Gas owner Centrica and US infrastructure investor Energy Capital Partners (ECP) will acquire National Grid’s Grain LNG terminal in Kent for about 1.5 billion pounds ($2.04 billion), the companies said on Thursday.

Each will hold a 50 per cent stake, with Centrica’s equity investment at around 200 million pounds and the remainder of the deal value largely tied to project debt.

The terminal, Europe’s largest by tank capacity, is expected to change hands in the fourth quarter of 2025, pending regulatory and national security clearance.
