Egypt’s National Railways Authority (ENR) announced that it has operated the sixth special train to facilitate the voluntary return of Sudanese nationals residing in Egypt, the Cabinet has said.
Train No. 1940 departed Cairo’s Ramses Station on Wednesday morning, August 20, 2025, heading to Aswan’s High Dam Station with hundreds of Sudanese families on board. The authority said the operation was organised with logistical and humanitarian support, ensuring care for elderly passengers and vulnerable groups.
The train was scheduled to arrive in Aswan at 23:10 on Wednesday. It will return as Train No. 1945 – third-class air-conditioned – departing Aswan at 20:30 on Thursday, August 21, and arriving in Cairo at 09:25 the following morning.
