Egypt discusses expanding energy cooperation with Expro

Egypt’s petroleum minister Karim Badawy held talks on Tuesday with Hussein Elsisi, vice president of Expro International for the Middle East and North Africa, on expanding cooperation in oil and gas services.

Badawy said Egypt’s location and infrastructure make it a launchpad for companies seeking regional growth. He added that the country is ramping up exploration and drilling to boost reserves and production, cut import dependence, and attract investment through advanced technologies and better reservoir management.

He also pointed to Egypt’s strategic partnership with Cyprus, which involves receiving Cypriot gas, liquefying it in Egyptian facilities, and re-exporting it.

Expro’s Elsisi said the company has used Egypt as its regional base since April, with operations already running in Libya and Oman and planned expansion in Cyprus and Greece. He said Expro aims to scale up its role in Egypt’s key petroleum projects.
