Egypt’s IMF reviews won’t add new burdens on citizens: PM

Egypt’s agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) covering the fifth and sixth reviews of its economic programme will not impose new burdens on citizens, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly said Wednesday.

“The agreement with the IMF has nothing to do with any measures that would affect Egyptians,” Madbouly said at the weekly press conference, seeking to reassure the public amid concerns over the impact of economic reforms. He stressed that the latest reviews are not linked to additional obligations for citizens.
