Egypt exports 210,000 tons of food in week ending 30 Jan. – NFSA

Egypt exported 210,000 tons of food during the week of 24–30 January, shipped in 5,560 consignments from 530 companies, the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) said on Sunday. Saudi Arabia, Russia, Lebanon, Sudan, and the Netherlands were the top destinations.

According to the NFSA’s weekly report, the shipments included about 740 varieties of products, including fruits, vegetables, tubers, flour, and cereal products, and prepared fruits, and vegetables.

Fruit exports totalled 82,000 tons across 32 varieties, led by citrus at 67,000 tons, followed by strawberries at 10,000 tons, and other fruits at 5,000 tons. Vegetable exports reached 45,000 tons across 40 varieties, with sweet potatoes at 8,000 tons, potatoes at 7,000 tons, and assorted beans at 6,000 tons.

The NFSA noted that Egyptian food exports reached 180 countries last week, highlighting the growing international reach of the country’s agricultural sector.
