Egypt’s Petroleum Minister Karim Badawy met Song Yu, chief operating officer of United Energy Group, to review the company’s oil and gas activities in Egypt’s Western Desert, the petroleum ministry said Tuesday.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES 2026) in Cairo, also covered potential cooperation between the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and United Energy in renewable and green energy projects. Discussions focused on the use of solar power in operations to reduce diesel consumption and improve efficiency.
United Energy officials praised Egypt’s investment climate and recent measures to address operational challenges, and reaffirmed their commitment to accelerating drilling to unlock new reserves and boost production.
