Egypt and Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR discussed expanding cooperation in the oil and gas sector on Monday as the two sides moved to implement a strategic partnership agreement signed earlier this year.
Petroleum Minister Karim Badawy met a SOCAR delegation on the sidelines of Baku Energy Week to review steps to advance cooperation under a framework agreement signed between the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and SOCAR during the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES 2026) in Cairo.
Badawy said energy remained a key pillar of cooperation between Egypt and Azerbaijan as bilateral relations between the two countries continue to deepen.
He highlighted Egypt’s refining, transportation, storage and export infrastructure, saying it could support broader cooperation and long-term partnerships in the energy sector.
Badawy added that Egypt offered investment opportunities in oil and gas exploration, development and production and welcomed greater participation by SOCAR in the Egyptian market.
