Egypt’s annual core CPI inflation remained steady at 13.8 per cent in May 2026, unchanged from April 2026, according to data released by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) on Wednesday.
Monthly core CPI inflation recorded 1.6 per cent in May, up from 1.1 per cent in April and matching the rate recorded in May 2025.
The monthly inflation note will be published on 15 June, the central bank said.
The CBE, citing figures from Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS), said monthly urban headline CPI inflation recorded 1.6 per cent in May, compared with 1.1 per cent in April and 1.9 per cent in May 2025.
