SCZONE partners with Elsewedy Academy to train industrial workforce
Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) has signed a cooperation agreement with Elsewedy Technical Academy (STA) on Monday to develop vocational training programmes tailored to industrial investors in the zone.
The agreement comes ahead of the planned opening of STA’s new campus in the Ain Sokhna Industrial Zone in September 2026.
SCZONE Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dien said aligning technical education with industry needs was key to sustaining investment and improving industrial productivity.
“Developing human capital is just as important as providing infrastructure and attracting investment,” he said.
Under the agreement, the two sides will design training programmes tailored to the needs of companies operating in SCZONE industrial clusters. This will include assessments of labour demand and specialised technical courses in engineering, operations, safety, and emerging energy sectors.
The initiative also includes job-linked training programmes aimed at connecting graduates with factories in the zone, alongside upskilling and reskilling schemes to meet changing labour market needs.
The academy branch, developed in cooperation with Germany’s KfW Development Bank and Banque Misr, is expected to admit 450 students in its first year, with capacity rising to 1,350.
It will follow a three-year dual education model based on the German vocational training system, combining classroom study with on-the-job industrial training.
Graduates will receive Egyptian and German-accredited qualifications, the academy said.
SCZONE has been positioning itself as a hub for export-oriented manufacturing and logistics, attracting investment in sectors including renewable energy, industrial components, and green fuels.
The partnership is intended to ensure a steady pipeline of skilled workers to meet the needs of current and future industrial investors in the zone.
