Egypt plans new budget transparency rules today – FinMin

Egypt plans to issue new decisions to formalise financial disclosure and set a roadmap for improving budget transparency and public participation, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk said on Monday.

Speaking at the Budget Transparency Forum, organised by Dcode Economic & Financial Consulting in coordination with the International Budget Partnership (IBP), Kouchouk said the measures would standardise the publication of financial data and strengthen transparency practices across government.

“The budget belongs to the citizen, who is its primary stakeholder and key influencer,” Kouchouk said, adding that the government would continue expanding public participation in setting budget priorities.

He said the Finance Ministry welcomed proposals to strengthen citizen engagement and would support community initiatives to address development needs.

Kouchouk said the ministry was coordinating with government agencies to simplify budget information, improve public understanding, and publish financial data more promptly.

He added that the ministry was also working with parliament, the Senate, the Central Auditing Organisation, and other institutions to strengthen fiscal governance.
