Egypt, Liberia sign civil aviation cooperation agreement

Egypt and Liberia signed a memorandum of understanding on Thursday to expand cooperation in civil aviation, including technical assistance, training and capacity building, at the conclusion of the 11th AFI Aviation Week 2026.

The agreement, signed between the two countries’ civil aviation authorities, establishes a framework for Egypt to provide technical support to Liberia across a range of civil aviation activities, while delivering specialised training programmes and sharing technical expertise in line with standards and recommended practices of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).

Civil Aviation Minister Sameh El-Hefny said the agreement reflected Egypt’s efforts to strengthen cooperation with African countries through knowledge sharing, technical assistance and capacity building in the aviation sector.

“Knowledge exchange and the transfer of expertise are key pillars for supporting the sustainable development of civil aviation and strengthening regional integration across Africa,” El-Hefny said.

He said Egypt had expanded technical partnerships with several African countries in recent years, reflecting growing demand for its expertise in areas including aviation safety, regulatory oversight, training and institutional development.

The agreement forms part of Egypt’s broader efforts to deepen cooperation with African partners and support the development of civil aviation capabilities across the continent.
