Egypt’s Sisi, Libya’s Dbeibeh discuss energy, reconstruction cooperation

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Libyan Prime Minister Abdulhamid Al-Dbeibeh agreed on Thursday to strengthen cooperation in energy, electricity, infrastructure, and reconstruction during talks aimed at deepening economic ties between the two neighbouring countries.

During a meeting in New Alamein City, Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s support for Libya’s stability, unity, and territorial integrity, and highlighted opportunities to expand cooperation in electricity, energy, infrastructure, reconstruction, trade, and investment, according to a statement from the Egyptian presidency.

Sisi said closer bilateral cooperation would serve the interests of both countries and build on the longstanding ties between Egypt and Libya.

Al-Dbeibeh expressed appreciation for Egypt’s continued support and welcomed broader cooperation in priority sectors to promote development and economic growth.

The talks also covered regional and international developments, with both sides stressing the importance of continued coordination to support regional peace and stability and resolve conflicts through dialogue and peaceful means, the presidency said.

The meeting was attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, and General Intelligence Service Chief Hassan Rashad, along with senior Libyan officials.
