Egypt’s tourist arrivals rise 9% in third week of September – minister

Tourist arrivals to Egypt rose 9 per cent year-on-year in the third week of September, Tourism Minister Sherif Fathy said on Monday, as Egypt works to maintain air traffic and tourism flows amid regional developments.

Fathy said the Tourism and Antiquities Ministry had taken measures in recent months to maintain air connectivity to Egypt and support tourist flows in response to developments in the region.

He made the remarks while chairing a meeting of the Tourism and Antiquities Support Fund’s board at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Capital.

The board approved the fund’s financial statements and final accounts for the 2025/26 fiscal year in the presence of representatives of Egypt’s Central Auditing Organisation, the ministry said.

The board also reviewed the fund’s economic activities during the recent period. It approved support for the Sustainable Fisheries Resources Development Fund to complete development projects in South Sinai to curb illegal fishing.

The projects are intended to help preserve fish stocks and the marine environment in Egypt’s tourist destinations, the ministry said.
