Australia-Africa Minerals and Energy Group CEO calls for deeper Egypt-Western Australia ties

Australia-Africa Minerals and Energy Group (AAMEG) CEO Doug Horak called on Egypt on Monday to strengthen institutional ties with Western Australia to support cooperation with mining companies and investors.

Speaking at the Egypt Mining Forum, Horak said he had several requests for Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and government officials, including establishing an Egyptian honorary consulate in Western Australia and an executive representative office for the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

Such steps would strengthen communication and cooperation with companies and investors and build on relations that have developed over the past year since the previous edition of the forum in Cairo, Horak said.

Horak also praised Sisi’s approach to developing Egypt’s mining sector, saying it was helping support the sector’s growth and create investment opportunities.
