Egypt’s vital waterway Suez Canal witnessed on Sunday the crossing of 52 ships at weight of 2.974 million tons.
25 ships have passed through the Suez Canal coming from the North at weight of 1.236 million tons.
The biggest ship coming from the north was France’s container ship CMA CGM Amerigo Vespucci at weight of 163 thousand tons.
Meanwhile, the number of ships passing through the Suez Canal coming from the south hit 27 at weight of 1.738 million. The biggest ship coming from the south was Greece’s oil tanker Mistral at weight of 162 thousand tons.
The canal is one of Egypt’s main sources of foreign revenue. Revenues hit $438.1m in May after 1,431 vessels crossed the waterway carrying a combined cargo of 79.7 million tons.
