Hala Shukrallah Succeeds Elbaradei As Head Of Constitution Party

Founding member of Egypt’s liberal Constitution Party Hala Shukrallah succeeds Mohamed ElBaradei as the party’s president.

Friday’s elections were the first elections for the party’s presidency. Shukrallah won 108 out of 189 votes.

Shukrallah’s opponents, former TV host Gamila Ismail and physician Hossam Abdel-Ghafar – both also founding members – won 57 and 23 votes respectively. Two votes were spoilt.
