Egypt’s tourism ministry has said the number of tourists visiting the country in the first quarter of 2012 fell 30% to 2.34 million, compared with 3.1 million in the same period a year earlier.
Despite the overall drop, the number of tourists from Saudi Arabia during the first quarter of 2012 doubled over the year before to reach 220,000, the ministry said. Saudi tourists make up around 50% of the total 462,000 Arab tourists who visited Egypt during the first three months of 2012, it said, as MENA stated.
