In recognition of the growing significance of the Egyptian market for the global beverage industry, Sidel, a global provider of liquid packaging solutions, announced today that it will host a one-day event for its existing and potential customers in Egypt to discuss local trends, developments and opportunities for growth. The event will be held on the 20th of October at the Fairmont Nile City Hotel in Cairo.
In recent years, Egypt has been showing signs of growing demand on the consumption of beverage products. Egyptian soft drinks industry has sound and intact long-term fundamentals whereby they draw growth from the fast-growing population that includes a dynamic and young population displaying a massive average growth rate of 2% per annum, with more than 50% of the Egyptian population under 19-years of age. This comes along with an increase in urbanisation, which represents around 46% of the total population. In this context, both multi-nationals and local providers have been looking to capitalize on the favorable conditions of the market whose size was estimated at almost 2.2 billion liters in 2013, an equivalent to 26.2 liters per capita consumption per year.
“Egypt has always been one of the most important markets for Sidel. Around 80 years ago, we supplied fillers and other equipment in Egypt and since then, we have been operating there. It has been a competitive market place with strong consumer demand on various beverage products. Innovation in packaging is, therefore, key to gaining that competitive edge,” said Clive Smith, Zone Vice-President of the Greater Middle East and Africa region at Sidel.
“As a leading global provider of PET solutions for liquid packaging, we want our customers, wherever they are, to know that we are prepared to help them adapt to changing consumer demands. A day like Value Creation Day is designed around understanding local market needs and challenges in order to tailor products and services to meet the demands. We want to use this event as a day to connect with our customers in Egypt and inform them on how we can aid in their efforts to move forward,” said Andrea DelGrosso, Regional Commercial Director at Sidel for the Greater Middle East.
The Value Creation Day will serve as an opportunity for Sidel to inform approximately 100 of its biggest customers in Egypt about the new technologies and services that the company is offering. C-level speakers will give presentations on themes ranging from industry trends to latest innovations in packaging solutions such as the new StarLite base mould, RightWeight, Short Neck, hot filling and aseptic for sensitive products as well as after-sales services. Sidel will have different speakers to open discussion on the market trends and the new solutions to help producers adapt to the shifting market.
