Egypt’s Petrochemical Company, Sidpec signed today a contract to build the first solar power station in Alexandria with Gas Cool co.
According to Egyptian oil ministry’s statement, the move comes in light of the petroleum sector policy to maximize the benefit from the renewable energy in electricity generation.
Sidi Kerir Petrochemical chairman Ahmed Helmy said the new station is the first of a number of stations on the firm’s land plot to maximize the benefit of using solar energy to generate electricity.
The new station will have a capacity of 60 KW, said Gas Cool chairman Alaa Hegazy, adding that the contract includes supplying, installing a station on Sidi Kerir Petrochemicals roof top and linking with the grid and the building through an on grid system by an inverter.
