Tunisian Ambassador to Kuwait Nour Ad-Deen said the inauguration of the New Suez Canal is seen as a historic event not only for Egypt but also for the whole Arab world.
Speaking to MENA, the ambassador congratulated the Egyptian people on the opening of the new waterway.
“The New Suez Canal is a great achievement that will offer a strategic solution for many economic woes,” he said.
“As Arabs, we are in a need for such great projects,” he said.
The New Suez Canal will massively increase the capacity of the existing canal and offer an important chance to boost the country’s struggling economy.
The 72-kilometer project involves a 37-kilometer waterway and deepening and expansion of the existing 145-year-old Suez Canal along a 35-kilometer stretch.
