Egypt’s Eastern Tobacco mulls building up two solar plants

Egypt’s cigarette monopoly Eastern Company for Tobacco (EAST.CA) is studying building up two solar plants to generate one megawatt of electricity, the company announced Sunday.

The estimated cost of each plant will be 12 million Egyptian pounds (US$1.5 million). The company said it would establish the two plants in the industrial complex in the Sixth of October City, 32 km (19.8 miles) from downtown Cairo.
