Flat6Lab’s most recent Demo Day was highlighted by an array of announcements one of which was their official induction into the Global Accelerator Network (GAN). GAN is the largest and most prominent network of accelerators in the world. Championed by TechStars, the Global Accelerator Network was created in 2010 under the management of some of the top accelerator programs and alongside the White House’s Startup America Initiative. With that, Flat6Labs becomes the first accelerator in Africa to join GAN.
By joining GAN, Flat6Labs would have expanded its network and reach from a regional to a global scale. Flat6Labs will now have access to a large, influential and ever-sprawling group of investors, mentors and entrepreneurs. Not only will this increase the program’s worldwide visibility, but also help connect the program’s member entrepreneurs to global partners and investors with whom they can collaborate and grow. Each of Flat6Labs’ companies will also receive over $100,000 worth in free perks from over 25 of the best vendors in the world as well as many training opportunities.
Ramez Mohamed, CEO of Flat6Labs said: “In addition to our great sense of achievement for being the first in Africa to become a member of GAN’s network, Flat6Labs’ team is also very pleased as the partnership would provide our startups with access to global investors, mentors and more business opportunities, beside a wide array of benefits.” He added: “We look forward to a high level of collaboration with GAN and all its members”
With reference to Flat6Labs joining his network, Patrick Riley, the Executive Director of GAN said: “We have heard a great deal about Flat6Labs and we know that [Flat6Labs] gives a chance to great ideas to become the best companies in the world.” He added: “Flat6Labs receives about 100 startups a year and I cannot wait to see who those companies are and what they will achieve and become a positive and active part of this world.
