H. E. Ahmad Abdul-Aziz Kattan, Saudi Ambassador to Egypt refuted what Muslim Brotherhood Deputy General Guide, engineer Khairat Al-Shater claimed that Saudi Arabia offered four billion dollars in return for handing over Mubarak to the Kingdom last year. Kattan stressed that these rumours are totally incorrect, underlining that Al-Shater should be accurate in what he says because this affects deep-rooted brotherly relationship between the two countries.
Saudi Ambassador to Egypt made clear that the Kingdom does not intervene in Egypt’s domestic affairs and that it is only keen on supporting Egypt to overcome the current crisis it faces, due to the importance of Egypt for the Arab world. Saudi Ambassador asked Khairat Al-Shater to present what proves these false claims, stressing that the Kingdom denied immediately what some newspapers has reported. Ambassador Kattan said that the historical relationship between the Egyptian and Saudi peoples will not be affected in spite of the many attempts made by known parties. Kattan added that what was said about money offered to Egypt is untrue and fabricated, as the Kingdom asserted clearly its policy towards Egypt and its respect to what Egypt will determine concerning its domestic affairs.
Saudi Ambassador to Egypt added that the Kingdom stands at an equal distance from all presidential candidates in Egypt, and that it is willing to cooperate and work with any candidate elected by the Egyptian people.
