Egyptian tourism ministry is in talks with private sector and a number of experts in tourism sector over resuming the promotional campaign in Italy within the coming few weeks.
Minister Hisham Zaazou stated that there is a strong approach to restore the campaign in Italy due its importance.
Egyptian Tourism Development Authority (TDA) halted the promotional campaign in the Italian market following the death of Giulio Regeni whose body was founded in Cairo.
The campaign has been launched at the beginning of February according to TDA’s plan to promote Egyptian tourism in European markets.
The minister stated that tourism ministry has to reconsider the halting decision notably after Sharm El Sheikh has received the first flight from Italy with 167 passengers on board following four months of suspension.
Zaazou asserted that the ministry is on daily contact with Italian Meridiana airlines which is set to run two flights per week; on Sunday and Thursday, from Milano to Sharm El Sheikh.
On other side, TDA has allocated more than US$1.2 million for the campaign to promote Egyptian tourism in its Italian counterpart until the middle of March 2016.
