Egypt’s annual urban consumerprice inflation jumped to 15.5 percent in August from 14 percentin July, the official statistics agency CAPMAS said on Thursday.
Egypt’s urban consumer price inflation figure had beenrising since April but the figure was unchanged in July, raisinghopes among some economists that the impact of a currencydevaluation earlier this year had begun to fade.
August’s jump in the headline inflation figure appeared tosignal a resumption in the upward trend in prices.
