Egyptian Minister of Trade Tarek Qabil said ongoing talks with Russian government officials to ease a recent ban place on Egyptian agricultural exports are showing ‘positive signs’.
Qabil said he had made telephone calls this morning with a number of Russian officials including Minister of Trade Denis Manturov to discuss the temporary ban Russia placed on imports of fruit and vegetable from Egypt, which become effective today, Sept. 22.
Egypt is keen to resumes its agricultural exports to the Russian market as soon as possible, the Egyptian minister said.
Minister Qabil will leave this Saturday for Russia heading a delegation involving officials in the Ministry of Trade, Agriculture Quarantine Authority, and the Agriculture Export Council.
