Chinese electrical equipment manufacturer Shanghai Electric targets establishing a factory to generate power using solid waste in Egypt.
CEO of Egyptian General Authority For Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), Mohamed Khodair met Monday with a delegation from the Chinese firm to discuss means of enhancing mutual cooperation in fields of Waste-to-energy (WtE) and water desalination.
During the meeting, the Chinese company showcased its activities and projects inside and outside China notably in fields of generating power from coal and establishing water desalination plants.
Officials of Shanghai Electric expressed their keenness on investing in WeT field in Sohag, Minya, Asyut governorates using the latest technologies.
The firm plans to invest in those governorates through establishing large factory that would operate with capacity of 300 tonnes daily or by establishing a group of factories with less capacities, Khodair stated.
He stated that GAFI is ready to provide support for all Chinese firms to work in such strategic sectors through facilitating necessary procedures and accelerating the execution of the new projects.
Shanghai Electric is engaged in the design, manufacture and sale of products including power generation equipment, power transmission and distribution equipment, transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, transport equipment, machine tools, elevators, packaging and print machinery, and environmental protection equipment.
