Al Robeky zone for leather tanneries is expected to start operating at full capacity by 2017, Head of Tannery Owners and Leather Products Dealers division at Cairo Chamber of Commerce stated.
Mohamed Mahran told Amwal Al Ghad Sunday that ten large tanneries have been relocated to Al Robeky zone, adding that processes of relocating tanneries will be phased.
The division is in talks with global firms on operating Al Robeky zone totally through using solar power in order to save energy, the official noted.
On other side, the total volume of Egyptian leather sector exports to a number of states reached around US$1.7 billion annually.
