Debt-ridden Dubai developer Nakheel has drained all six swimming pools at its prestigious Marina Residences towers on the Palm Jumeirah in the latest escalation of its service fees row.
The pools are understood to have been drained in the last week with Nakheel said to be claiming it is owed AED15m (US$4.1m) in service charges from property owners.
Most of those affected by the move are tenants, who are not responsible for paying service charges.
There is also speculation that Nakheel will shut down the development’s other facilities including gyms and lifts, if the monies are not recouped.
