Foreign investment inflows in Egypt reach $60bln in two years: Amer
The foreign investment inflows have reached $60 billion pounds within two years including direct and indirect investment, Egyptian Central Bank Governor Tarek Amer said.
He made during the “Your Vacation at Your Home Country”, the first ever forum for Egyptians abroad attended by Minister of Immigration Nabila Makram, , Head of the Central Agency for Mobilization and Statistics Khairat Barakat, and other government officials.
He added that the foreign investments in the Egyptian securities have recorded $38 billion.
The initiative was organized by the Ministry of Immigration to invite Egyptians abroad to spend their holidays in Egypt. A total of 573 people from different countries registered in the initiative.
Amer further noted that the foreign direct investments in the Egyptian economy have registered $16 billion within two years.
The governor of the Central Bank said that the economic situation in Egypt witnessed a major transformation caused by Egyptians at home and abroad.
He also added that Egyptian abroad bear heavy burdens to maintain Egypt’s stability and security; the Egyptian expats also supported the economy through bank transfers.
