Egypt’s natural gas output exceeded 7 billion cubic feet per day at the end of August, official sources at the state-run Egyptian Natural Gas Holding (EGAS) said on Monday.
“Last year, we (oil and gas sector) developed seven natural gas projects that entered production, with a capacity approaching 1.3 billion cubic feet per day,” the sources with knowledge further told Amwal Al Ghad.
The company made five gas discoveries offshore the Mediterranean Sea and 10 more in the Western Desert during the financial year 2018/2019, the sources said.
“Natural gas sector development has contributed to achieving Egypt’s self-sufficiency goal at the end of 2018 given an increase in natural gas production by around 21 percent,” they added.
