Afro-Asian Rural Development Organization(AARDO) have held a workshop in a training center of Matruh’s resources development project of the Center for Desert Research. A 14 members from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Yemen, Jordan, Oman, Iraq and Egypt have attended.
Dr.Raaft Al Sayed Khadr, Head of Desert’s Research Center, confirmed that Egypt is one of the five countries that established the organization because of its experience in land reclamation including combating desertification in order to assist the reclamation of land and using it for various purposes like: agriculture and establishing residential communities away from agricultural areas .
Mohamed Abbas the previous director of agriculture’s research center confirmed in a private exclusive that the ratio of desertification reached 26% which suffers from sand dues movement from Egypt’s area, He pointed out that desertification is a global phenomenon which increases continuously and the world losses about 102 acres from arable lands.
FurtherMore, Dr.Abbas talked about Egypt’s experience through Matruh’s resources development project in order to identify different activities of harvesting water ,the development of valleys And cultivation of some agricultural and horticultural crops of the Western desert in the area between east Vukh to west Salloum 70 kilometers in the south.
Al Gomhuria newspaper discovered that brigade Ahmed Helmy Al Hayatamy the governor of Matruh was not held a workshop as the director of the center was not tell the province to hold the workshop.
