Abul-Fotouh Sends Condolences To Fayoum Train Crash Relatives

Strong Egypt Party founder Abdel-Moneim Abul-Fotouh has sent his condolences to the relatives victims killed in a train crash in Fayoum on Saturday.

He called for an investigation into the incident and for those responsible to be held accountable.

“The Egyptian citizen still pays his life for carelessness and poor management,” Abul-Fotouh said via Twitter on Sunday.

Egyptians have long complained that basic safety standards are not enforced on the country’s railways and other transport systems.

At least four people were killed and 33 people injured in the train crash on Saturday in Fayoum, 91km south of Cairo.

A train travelling south from Cairo hit another train travelling in the opposite direction, the Ministry of Health said.

Fayoum governor Ahmed Ali Ahmed told Al Jazeera Mubashar Misr news that a criminal investigation had been launched into the incident.
