Al Ghurair Group to tap agricultural reclamation flagships in Egypt

Chairman and Managing Director of Al Khaleej Sugar Company, a unit of Al Ghurair Group, Jamal Al Ghurair asserted his full confidence in the investment climate in Egypt, noting that his company plans to expand its projects in the country.

Al Ghurair’s remarks were made after his meeting on Tuesday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly in the presence of Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr.

Al Ghurair said the company is planning to invest in the silos project in Damietta Harbor along with the development of the river transport in Damietta branch of the River Nile.

Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad said the group has already finished the digging of dig 80 wells and is planning to start digging another 200.

He also said the company is preparing to increase the lots of lands it has been reclaiming, noting that cultivation will start in 25,000 feddans in the months of September, October and November this year.

During the meeting, Al Ghurair briefed the prime minister on the development of the industrial and agricultural area allocated to the company in west of Minya governorate where as many as 180,000 feddans of beet sugar and other products are being cultivated.

The prime minister, for his part, praised the size of investments of Al Ghurair company in Egypt and ordered the bodies concerned to coordinate with the company’s officials as regards the new projects that will be under construction in Damietta.
