The press office of Brazilian team Atletico Mineiro has denied the claims of Zamalek president Mortada Mansour that Brazil star Ronaldinho had agreed to join the Cairo giants next season.
“Atletico-MG are unaware of any negotiations involving Ronaldinho with Egyptian side Zamalek,” Ronaldinho’s brother and manager Assis Moreira, who is currently in China, told Brazilian newspaper Globoesporte.
“Ronaldinho has a contract with the club until the end of the year,” he added.
The chairman of Zamalek said on Thursday that he is in talks with the agent of the Brazilian striker to sign him during the summer transfer window.
Moreira said he hadn’t talked with the Zamalek president.
“I had not talked with the president of Zamalek, much less with representatives of the Egyptian club,” he said.
“He (Mortada) must be talking about Ronaldo. No one spoke to me. This must be a joke.”
Zamalek are bidding for their first league title since 2004. They reached the mini-league phase of the Egyptian Premier League and the last eight of the Egypt Cup. They are also competing in the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
