AWIEF 8th edition to host in Egypt – joint press conference

Egypt will host the 8th edition of the Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) conference and awards on 26 – 27 September in Cairo, according to Minister for International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat.

Al-Mashat made the announcement on Tuesday at a joint press conference held by the Ministry of International Cooperation, AWIEF, and Egyptian Businessmen Association (EBA).

“The hosting of this event reflects Egypt’s keenness and support for empowering women and enhancing their economic participation and important roles on innovation and entrepreneurship to achieve sustainable development,” the minister remarked. Adding, this is a step reflects the state’s vital roles and national endeavours on women empowerment to strengthen women’s contribution to the labour markets.

AWIEF CEO Irene Ochem expressed his enthusiasm at the press that Egypt is hosting the conference this year with a collaboration between the International Cooperation Ministry and EBA. Explaining, the importance of being Egypt the host of AWIEF as he described Egypt the forefront of African entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem drive.

The reputable conference expectedly held at Cario Marriot Hotel and EBA will contribute in the organisation.

The Executive Director of EBA, Mohamed Youssef said, “EBA is so proud to have such a strong partner as AWIEF to co-organise this important and prestigious forum…”

EBA is a non-governmental, non-for-profit organization that seeks to unify the efforts of private Egyptian interests in contributing to the productivity and efficient national economic and social development of Egypt.

AWIEF is an award-winning pan-African women economic empowerment organisation, that has been granted a Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. AWIEF works to close the gender gap by driving women’s business leadership and entrepreneurship in Africa.
