Banks in Egypt to close 27 Aug. for Prophet’s birthday holiday

All banks operating in Egypt will be closed on Thursday, 27 August to mark the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said on Wednesday.

Banking operations will resume on Sunday, 30 August, the CBE said in a statement.

The bank holiday follows a government decision declaring 27 August a paid public holiday for state employees and workers at public-sector and state-owned companies.
