Banque du Caire’s IPO highlights banking sector resilience – CBE governor
Strong demand from international institutional and retail investors for Banque du Caire’s listing on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) reflects confidence in the Egyptian banking sector and the wider economy, Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Governor Hassan Abdalla said Monday.
Interest from major international institutions, including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), alongside retail investors, demonstrated the success of the listing, Abdalla said.
He said the offering also highlighted the strength and resilience of Egypt’s banking sector and its solid financial indicators.
The transaction reflected confidence in the Egyptian economy and the effectiveness of the state’s economic reforms, further strengthening Egypt’s position as an attractive destination for international investment, Abdalla added.
