Board of Egypt Football Association dissolved by court order

The executive board of the Egyptian Football Association was dissolved according to a court ruling Sunday over suspected rigging of 2012 elections.

The verdict is final and cannot be appealed.

The case dates back to a lawsuit filed in 2013 by the president of the second division football team Bani Ebeid, Hermas Radwan, challenging the integrity of the voting process in the association’s 2012 elections.

The regular four-year elections of a new board are set to take place in September 2016.

The current Executive Director of the Board Tharwat Sweilam is expected to direct the association till September.

The court verdict comes just two days before Egypt are to take on group rivals Nigeria in the African Cup of Nations group-stage qualifiers at Alexandria’s Borg El-Arab Stadium.
